If you were not already aware, we have had our Thousand Trails Cabin Pass for about 10 months. We are getting ready for our second stay at Tropical Palms in Kissimmee, FL. Over the past 10 months we have found each cabin provides very different creature comforts, so I have been keeping a list of what we need to bring along to make our stay even more enjoyable. Tropical Palms has been our favorite cabin thus far. They are meticulously kept and almost everything you could need is included. In fact, I would say nothing on my list is an absolute must, but we prefer to bring these things to enhance our stay.

All bedding and towels are included in these cabins. This is a HUGE space saver when it comes to packing, which in turn allows me to bring along more luxuries.

Here you can download a copy of my packing list. I have left plenty of blank space so you can add in your personal items. Most of the items I have listed below can be found on our Amazon page.

Flip Flops: While the cabin has its own bathroom, my husband is 6’5” and the shower has a door versus a curtain, which can get cramped for him. He discovered the bathhouses by the pool had huge, newly remodeled, and very clean showers, just steps away from our cabin. Not only did this give him some much needed elbow room, it freed up our bathroom for me to get ready in the morning. Despite them being extremely well kept, I always recommend flip flops in a public bathroom. Old Navy flip flops are great for this!

Laundry: Maintenance was having some issues with several washers and dryers during our last stay, but they were very communicative and marked each of the machines that was down. The laundry room there is quite large and the park was relatively quiet when we visited so it was never an issue to get a machine. Also, their laundry room is next to the pool, so you can enjoy some sunshine or a dip while you wait.

I stopped using dryer sheets about a year ago, so I bring my dryer balls wherever we plan to do laundry.

I use liquid detergent at home, but on the road, I prefer the pods for ease of use and less mess when packing. Drop a few into a screw top tupperware, and even if you are flying, they pack with no mess.

When car space allows, I like to throw our foldable wagon in to tote laundry to and from the laundry room. If you need to save space, a rolling suitcase works too.

If you’ve ever experienced Florida humidity, you know it takes FOREVER for anything to dry. While these cabins have a ton of railing space outside, those Florida afternoon thunderstorms usually cut drying time short. This drying rack allows us to hang all of our bathing suits inside when humidity or rain is working against us.

Kitchen: The kitchens in these units are updated and have everything you could ever want to prepare a meal. That being said, my family is picky with certain things and we do quite a bit of cooking in the cabin, so here are a few items I add to our packing list.

I have two boys who, especially during growth spurts, can be bottomless pits. I like to make a big batch of pancakes when we arrive and have them in the freezer for breakfasts and snacks throughout the week. My griddle allows me to make them in bulk so I am not having to cook breakfast each morning.

Although we eat a lot of meals “in” I try to keep them pretty simple, because it’s my vacation too! We started bringing along our air fryer which allows me to make everything from breakfast sausage to chicken nuggets, quickly and with minimal cleanup.

The cabin comes with a small container of dish soap, and I believe they will even replenish it for you if need be, but I am particular and believe that nothing but Dawn actually cleans dishes, so I bring my own little bottle with me.

There is a dishwasher in the cabin which is such a luxury, but again, I am particular when it comes to dishwasher detergent, so I pack my own. There was some in the unit when we arrived for those who don’t want to bring some along.

Foaming Hand Soap: I hate bar soap (which is provided), so I bring bottles of foaming hand soap for the bathroom and kitchen.

Over the Door Hooks: As I mentioned above, the humidity in Florida makes things take forever to dry. There are a couple of towel racks in the bathroom, but I find our towels dry so much better on hooks. This also allows us to separate our towels and keep track of who’s is who’s.

Beach/Pool Towels: I believe there were pool towels in the unit (I will confirm on our upcoming trip). However, I like a nice big pool towel and my kids like the ones with hoods, so we bring our own. My favorite are Costco. They are fluffy, yet absorbent, nice and big, and they hold up over several years. They usually come out in our stores around this time of year (Northern NJ) so if you see them, grab them. They usually sell out fast.

I hope you found this list helpful. If you have visited Tropical Palms and can think of something I missed, send me a message on our Instagram or Facebook. Happy Camping!
