We just completed our second one-week stay at Tropical Palms in Kissimmee, Florida. We visited this park using our Thousand Trails Cabin Pass which meant we paid nothing out of pocket for this stay. The cabin, as well as all on-site amenities, are included with our Cabin Pass. If you are interested in the park in general, checkout my post here.

This was our second time assigned to Cabin 43. During our first stay, we were assigned this cabin at check-in and asked to be moved, as it does not have an attached parking spot. My kids were 2 and 5 at the time, and they often came home already asleep from long park days. We needed to be able to easily transfer them to their beds. The staff kindly moved us to Cabin 16, which is identical in layout, but has an attached parking spot. This time, our kids are a little older and we did not have long park days planned. It is a beautiful cabin with a great location directly across from the entrance to the pool.

Our parking spot was just beyond the blue cabin you see in the background of the photo above. We traveled lighter this trip so loading and unloading the car was not too bad. At the last minute I opted not to bring our collapsible wagon, which I regret. It would have made loading, unloading, laundry, and grocery runs much easier. Luckily, we have at least two more stays planned for later this year, so I have a chance to redeem myself.

The front door opens directly to the living/dining area. There is a small table to your left, with fold-down leaves and 4 chairs, as well as a couch, coffee table, end table and upholstered chair in front of you. All the of furniture was modern, clean and well-kept. A flat screen TV is mounted on the wall to your right.

To your right is a bedroom with two twin beds. There is a large closet with mirrored doors and 3 storage drawers beneath it. This was plenty of room for my two boys clothes, toys, and suitcases. One thing to mention, that was specific to our cabin and affected that room in particular was the light pollution from the pool area. One of the pool flood lights pointed directly into the top window of that bedroom, to the point that it impacted my kids sleep. I ended up stuffing two extra pillows in the windowsill to keep out the light. If you are someone who is particularly sensitive to light at night, you may prefer a cabin a little further from the pool area.

I setup our collapsible drying rack in this room, as it has much more floor space than the master bedroom or bathroom. Florida humidity makes drying towels and bathing suits a challenge. The hanging space in the bathroom is limited and Florida mid-afternoon thunderstorms can make drying on the outdoor railings difficult. Even with the rack, my kids still had plenty of floor space to play in their room.

To the left of the living room is a galley kitchen that features a full size refrigerator, full size stove, small dishwasher, toaster, and coffee maker. There is a large pantry with several shelves. The kitchen is stocked with cups, plates, bowls, coffee mugs, utensils, pots, pans, a cutting board, and knives. This was the only cabin we have visited that had a knife sharp enough to actually be useful in the kitchen. Dishwasher detergent, dish soap, paper towels, garbage bags and a sponge are provided. All can be replenished by texting housekeeping. We cooked many meals during the week and found everything to be clean and in good working order.

Just off the kitchen is the bathroom. It was immaculately clean and well stocked. More toilet paper can be requested from housekeeping as needed. All towels and linens are included, and housekeeping will gladly switch out old towels for new ones at any time. Simply text them your request, leave the soiled ones on the front porch, and they will switch them out. (The introvert in me absolutely loves the text requests and contactless pickup/dropoff.) My only complaint about the bathroom is the shower head is mounted unusually low. My husband is 6’5” and several times opted to shower in the bathhouse because our shower head was so low.

Just beyond the pantry is the master bedroom with a king bed, built-in nightstands and storage cabinets, as well as a large closet with wooden hangers, large mirrored doors, and storage drawers below. The drawers and overhead cabinets provided plenty of room for my husband and I to store our clothes and belongings. I appreciated the large closet, not only for hanging clothes, but to store our suitcases.

One of the members of our Cabin Pass Facebook Group mentioned that she brings her Roomba with her, which I think is genius! They provide a broom and dustpan in the cabin, but if you can bring along something like a robot vacuum or a small stick vacuum, I would definitely say to do so. It may be because I have little ones and we all have a propensity to walk barefoot indoors and out, but I would have much preferred running a vacuum to sweeping. We also tend to have week-long stays, and I find the cabins really need a good cleaning by the end of 7 nights. If you are just staying the weekend I don’t think it’s as big an issue.

This is one of the campgrounds that requires the least amount of “stuff” to bring with you. We have visited others where we have had to supply linens and towels. Or some where the provided kitchen utensils were broken, dirty or melted. In fact, this is one of the only parks I would consider flying to, as that is how few extras are needed, even with young kids in tow.

Another added bonus of this campground, and I may regret saying this, is that it seems to have amazing availability. I have never had an issue getting their Elite 2BR Cottage at any point in the year. I have never had to change dates or cabin types. As the Cabin Pass gains popularity, that is becoming a rarity at other properties. We have stayed twice now, and plan to stay at least 2 or 3 more times before the end of the year. I will post updates in the event that any of the above does change in the coming months.
